Ammonium nitrate

Ammonium-nitrate fertilizer in the ratio NH4: NO3 = 1:1. It is a leading nitrogen fertilizer. It is used in fertilizer systems in all soil and climatic zones for basic, pre-sowing and top dressing applications. Water-soluble, fast-acting nitrogen fertilizer.

The fertilizer is concentrated, contains almost no ballast compounds and dissolves quickly in water. The peculiarity of ammonium nitrate is that the ammonium cations of the fertilizer are absorbed by the soil-absorbing complex and are not washed out into the lower soil layers, providing prolonged nitrogen nutrition to the plants. The nitrate nitrogen ions of the fertilizer are not absorbed by soil colloids, are in a mobile state in the soil solution and are quickly absorbed. This is very important in early spring fertilization, when nitrification processes in the soil are not yet underway or are weak.

It is recommended to apply ammonium nitrate to light soils with a good texture before sowing for cultivation. In areas with insufficient moisture supply, it can be applied in the fall. It is also effective for fertilizing row crops, with simultaneous incorporation into the soil by a cultivator during inter-row cultivation.

Ammonium nitrate is a good component for the production of mineral fertilizer mixtures.

It is used in all soil and climatic zones for basic and pre-sowing fertilization and for fertilizing crops.

It is advisable to apply in spring for fertilizing winter, spring cereals, vegetables locally and superficially. It is not recommended to apply in the fall, as the fertilizer contains 50% of the nitrate form of nitrogen, which is washed out of the soil by leachate due to precipitation.

The fertilizer should be stored in waterproof polypropylene containers and in dry storage facilities. Ammonium nitrate is explosive and flammable.

Fertilizer application rates are set based on the results of agrochemical soil analysis, biological characteristics of crops and the planned harvest.
